Researcher faced 'hostility' over Rotherham abuse report

A Home Office researcher who wrote a report into the sexual exploitation of children in Rotherham has said she faced "hostility" from the council.

Her inquiries in 2002 indicated there were then more than 270 victims. Last week, a report revealed more than 1,400 children were abused from 1997 to 2013.

The researcher told the Today programme that she even phoned the Home Office to warn them about what was going on. The Home Office says it is looking into the handling of her report.

The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, spoke to reporter Tom Bateman.
