Ashya King case: Nick Clegg says full force of law not appropriate
"Throwing the full force of the law" at a couple who removed their child from hospital in the UK to seek alternative treatment abroad is "not appropriate", the deputy prime minister has said.
Brett and Naghemeh King removed Ashya, five, from hospital in Southampton against medical advice, in order to seek proton beam therapy for his brain tumour.
They have been detained in Spain, although they have not been charged with any offence.
Nick Clegg told the BBC that his heart went out to the couple.
