Ashya King: Hospital denies blocking proton beam treatment

A Chief Paediatrician at Southampton General Hospital has denied that a five-year-old with a brain tumour was blocked from going to Prague for proton beam therapy treatment.

Dr Peter Wilson told the BBC's Duncan Kennedy, "What we are really unhappy about is the breakdown of communication with the family".

Police efforts to track down Ashya King began after his parents, Brett and Naghemeh, took him from the hospital without doctors' consent last week.

The Kings were detained in Spain on Monday, but released on Tuesday after UK prosecutors withdrew a European arrest warrant.
