Locals express anger at abuse scandal at Rotherham council meeting

A meeting of Rotherham council was interrupted by local people furious about the revelation that more than 1,400 local girls had been sexually abused over a number of years despite warnings that the police and local authority should act.

Deputy council leader Paul Lakin made a statement apologising for the council's failure to act, but still faced angry calls form members of the public to resign as well as the South Yorkshire police commissioner Shaun Wright.
