NHS whistleblowing is an 'ongoing issue'

A group which supports whistleblowers in the NHS says it has a dossier of 70 cases of staff who have faced bullying and reprisals for speaking out about poor practices found in the organisation.

Dr Kim Holt, who set up the group called Patients First, explained that "we are still hearing of people being suspended, of logjams between the employers and frontline staff where there's conflict, disagreement, people are being offered money to leave."

"Sadly the vast majority of people who contact us have never gone public," she added.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 22 September.
