Miliband 'open' to military action against IS

Labour Party leader Ed Miliband has said that he is 'open' to military action by the United Kingdom against Islamic State.

The Prime Minister David Cameron is due to meet Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi later today. It is expected that they will discuss what military assistance the UK could provide to help Iraqi forces combat the threat of IS in Iraq.

Speaking to Today programme presenter Sarah Montague following his speech to the Labour Party conference, Ed Miliband explained that if a proposition comes forward for military action by the United Kingdom "we are open to it and we'll look at it."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 24 September.
