Child poverty targets 'untenable', says Milburn

Britain is on the verge of being permanently divided between the "haves and have-nots", according to the government's commission on child poverty and social mobility.

The Commission's chairman says young people are increasingly missing out on the opportunities enjoyed by their parents' generation, like home ownership and job opportunities.

Ahead of the release of his second annual State of the Nation report on Monday, Alan Milburn told the BBC that all the political parties had to do more to end child poverty.
