The founder of the National Association for People Abused in Childhood, Peter Saunders, has said Fiona Woolf is "someone we would not be able to work with" if she remained as chair of an inquiry into historical child sex abuse.

He was speaking after victims of abuse groups met with Home Office officials to discuss the inquiry.

Mrs Woolf has been criticised for being too close to the former Home Secretary Leon Brittan, who has denied claims he mishandled allegations of sex abuse in the 1980s.

Mr Saunders told reporters: "We have had a voice today and now we wait to hear from the Home Secretary."
