Swapping the food bank for a temple

Hundreds of thousands of free, hot meals will be served up at Sikh temples across the UK this week, as part of a tradition known as Langar.

It is a 500-year old system in which food is distributed to those who want it, as a way of promoting equality.

It seems many people are now preferring to go to a local temple for a hot meal than use a food bank.

BBC Asian Network's Shabnam Mahmood reports.
