Ched Evans row: Sheffield United patron Dave Berry resigns

Singer Dave Berry has resigned as a patron of Sheffield United, saying he wanted to make a "moral stand" after convicted rapist Ched Evans was allowed to train at the club.

Evans, 25, was freed last month after serving half of a five-year jail sentence, and maintains he is innocent.

Mr Berry, who has an honorary role with the club, said it was a "difficult situation" but that allowing Evans to train sent out the "completely wrong message".
