Solent cargo ship: 'Not an everyday rescue' says RNLI

A major operation is under way to free a car transporter ship that ran aground in the Solent, off the Isle of Wight on Saturday, with 25 crew members on board.

RNLI volunteer Tom Pederson said while many vessels run aground on the Bramble Bank every year, they had not see one of "this size or magnitude" before.

He was in charge of one of the lifeboats involved in the crew's rescue, and described how some of the crew members were in "precarious" positions on the vessel.
