RSPCA launches inquiry after one of the worst cases of neglect

The RSPCA has launched an inquiry after nine dogs were found abandoned on a roadside caked in mud and dirt.

It says it is among the worst cases of animal neglect it has ever seen.

The animals were discovered on roads around Winchester, with their fur so overgrown and matted that some were unable to walk or see.

They are now safe and being looked after at an animal welfare kennel.

Duncan Kennedy reports.
