Magna Carta manuscripts displayed together at British Library

Written in 1215, the Magna Carta laid the foundations for democracy in Britain.

It established the principle that nobody, not even the king or queen, is above the law, and paved the way for our justice system.

It is now 800 years since its creation and, to mark the occasion, the four remaining original versions are being brought together for the first time at the British Library.
