Alan Barnes attacker pleads guilty to assault

A man has pleaded guilty to assaulting and attempting to rob disabled pensioner Alan Barnes last month.

The attack, which left Mr Barnes with a broken collarbone, led to an online appeal on social media which raised more than £330,000.

Richard Gatiss, 25, from Gateshead, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rob.
