Dangerous dogs sentencing consultation begins

People who breed dogs to be aggressive could be among those severely punished under new sentencing guidelines.

The proposals outline how courts should apply the new laws which were brought in last year.

Magistrates and judges now have the power to send someone to prison for a maximum of fourteen years for a fatal dog attack.

BBC Breakfast spoke to Trevor Cooper, who is a dog law specialist for the animal welfare charity Dogs Trust.
