UK defence 'not equipped to cope' with escalating threats, say MPs

The UK is facing an escalating security threat, and its defence system is not equipped to cope, according to a government report.

The Commons Defence Committee says Britain's security strategy urgently needs updating, to ensure several different threats can be tackled at once.

Two further parliamentary reports also highlight rising threats facing the country. In one, MPs warn that chaos in Libya could lead to more terrorist attacks in Europe.
