Vigilante paedophile hunters 'on the rise'

The number of "vigilante" groups aiming to expose suspected paedophiles online is on the rise, Det Supt Andrew Stokes has said.

The head of the public protection unit at Derbyshire Police told the Victoria Derbyshire programme that the groups - which pose as underage girls on friends and dating websites - also put suspects at risk through their evidence gathering.

He added that in the most serious cases the groups' work had led to targets taking their own lives.
