Budget 2015: Major shake up in vehicle duty

Chancellor George Osborne has announced a new system for the payment of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), commonly know as car tax or road tax.

From 2017, new cars will pay emissions-based VE - £140 for the vast majority of vehicles.

Mr Osborne also announced the creation of a roads fund, so that the money collected could be used to improve conditions for drivers.
