Manchester police: Missing teen searches 'unsustainable'

The time and cost of tracking down missing people is placing an "unsustainable" burden on police, a Greater Manchester Police chief has warned.

More than 10,000 people were reported missing in Greater Manchester in 2014, almost half of whom were children, and costing police £30m.

Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said other police work was compromised by thousands of calls better dealt with by social workers.

Jeremy Cooke was given special access to the team trying to find the missing.
