Stormont crisis: This is a time for leadership, says Martin McGuiness
A political crisis in Northern Ireland can be resolved "if there's a political will to do so", Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has claimed.
His comments followed the defeat of a proposal to adjourn the Assembly at Stormont, with the Ulster Unionists, the SDLP and Sinn Féin voting against.
On Wednesday, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) said it would resign from the executive if the committee did not agree the proposal or if the government does not suspend the institutions.
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuiness said it was "ridiculous that low-life criminals who murdered two men have the ability to bring down democratic institutions".
