WW2 veteran 'on top of the world' to get medals back

RAF veteran Donald Nicholson has been reunited with his medals, which he feared he would never see again.

The 93-year-old thought he had lost the medals, which were for his service in more than 30 bomber raids during the Second World War, at a service in Lincoln.

But a search at the Bomber Command Memorial in the city found nothing.

Then late on Friday the news came that the medals had been handed in at Donald's local police station near Sunderland.

On Monday he got them back, and BBC Look North's Phillip Norton watched the handover.
