'Prisons a lot more dangerous' says chief inspector Nick Hardwick
The outgoing Chief Inspector of Prisons in England and Wales, Nick Hardwick, has told the BBC's Newsnight programme that prisons have grown ''a lot more'' dangerous.
Mr Hardwick said the murder and suicide rate was at its highest level in 10 years.
He has declined to apply for another five-year term and leaves his post at the end of the month.
