Was John 'Goldfinger' Palmer killed by a contract killer?

Police believe that John Palmer, who had the nickname Goldfinger, may have been killed by a professional contract killer.

Palmer got his nickname for his alleged role in a bullion raid, in which £25m worth of gold was stolen. He was later acquitted of the crime.

At one point he was 105th on the Sunday Times Rich List, a position shared with the Queen, and due at least in part to a massive timeshare scam in Tenerife.

BBC Crimewatch features an appeal for information about John Palmer's murder on BBC1 on Thursday 10 March at 21:00 GMT and is available on the BBC iPlayer after broadcast.
