Ayeeshia Jane Smith's injuries 'horrifying' say police

Detective Inspector Andy Maxfield of Staffordshire Police has spoken to reporters about the ''heartbreaking'' injuries suffered by Ayeeshia Jane Smith, after her mother was found guilty of her murder.

Kathryn Smith, 23, was also convicted of cruelty to a child, following 21-month-old Ayeeshia's death.

Her partner Matthew Rigby, 22, was cleared of murder but convicted of causing or allowing the child's death in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
