Government should equip officers with Tasers - Police Federation

Police officers and the Home Secretary Theresa May have confronted each other over how some of the most difficult policing should be carried out.

Speaking to the Police Federation at their annual conference in Bournemouth, Mrs May said that victims of domestic violence were being let down.

But the Federation itself was concerned about the safety of its members, with head Steve White calling on the government to pay for Tasers to be issued more widely to officers.

Danny Shaw reports.
