New campaign to raise FGM awareness

A campaign to raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation has been launched by police in Northamptonshire, which has a large Somali population.

It is timed to coincide with the run-up to the school holidays, when children are at a higher risk of being taken abroad for FGM.

There has still not been a successful prosecution involving FGM in the UK.
