Should misogyny be a hate crime?

Around 30 cases of misogyny - sexism towards women - have been investigated by Nottinghamshire Police since it became the first force to begin recording misogyny as a hate crime in April.

Misogyny can include unwanted sexual advances, wolf-whistling, verbal abuse, or taking pictures without consent.

These acts are currently not classed as a hate crime on their own - they have to be coupled with another offence, like harassment.

The Victoria Derbyshire programme has learnt police forces across the country are meeting later this week to look at the possibility of rolling out the Nottinghamshire scheme in other areas.

The BBC's Jean MacKenzie has been gauging reaction. Her report contains some language that some people may find offensive.
