Abuser: Why I asked for help to stop hitting my girlfriend

Figures given to BBC Radio 5 live suggest there's been a rise in the number of people seeking help, because they've been abusive or violent towards someone they love.

In the last year, more than 2,700 people called a helpline run by the organisation Respect. Nearly half them were perpetrators.

5 live Daily Emma Barnett has heard exclusively from a man who went through a six-month programme to change his behaviour. He spoke alongside his partner, who has stayed with him despite his violence towards her.
