Ex-prisoner: I had an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness

Michael Irwin said he felt suicidal while in prison after being overwhelmed by a "feeling of hopelessness".

He said the pressure on inmates is "really high" and it can be a number of things that trigger suicidal thoughts.

Mr Irwin, who went to prison in 2007, was helped by a fellow inmate, Mick Horn.
