Former Nato chief: 'Creative accounting' in MOD

Costs in the armed forces are running so high that according to the Times newspaper, there could be a £10bn shortfall.

Chris Parry, former Nato commander and a former director general in the Ministry of Defence, agrees with those allegations. He says it's an inevitable consequence of what he calls the "creative accounting" of the previous administration.

He told the Today programme that the previous administration "kicked the can down the road" and now the "unfunded chickens are coming home to roost".
