Cambridge lose University Challenge but Monkman wins fans

Cambridge have lost to Oxford in the final of University Challenge.

The series became a hit on social media, in large part due to fan favourite Eric Monkman, who captained Wolfson College.

Despite his team's loss some took to Twitter to describe the 29-year-old as the "people's champion".

Host Jeremy Paxman told Wolfson they had been "entertaining".

The final of the 46th series aired on Monday night.
