Alfie Evans has been 'breathing alone for hours', father says

Tom Evans, the father of seriously ill 23-month-old Alfie has said he has been breathing without support.

It comes after they lost legal challenges against a High Court ruling in February that Alder Hey Children's Hospital could withdraw life support.

Earlier the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted the toddler Italian citizenship, hoping it would allow an "immediate transfer to Italy" for further treatment.
