Landing on Gold Beach on D-Day, Joe Cattini remembers the young men who didn't make it ashore.

He also spoke to the BBC about the ferocious battles among the hedgerows of Normandy. This unfamiliar environment proved challenging to Joe's unit, who were more familiar with fighting in the wide open spaces of North Africa.
