Ramblers warning on footpath cuts

Ramblers have presented a 3,000-signature petition to Shropshire Council in protest at cuts they say will mean paths falling into disrepair.

Campaigners claim routes will not be maintained and tourists will be deterred by further cuts to footpath maintenance budgets.

The Conservative-controlled council said it needed to save £85.5m within the next three years.

Rambler Peter James said it would be a retrograde step for rambling access.
