How safe are amusement fair rides?

Since the millennium about 1,400 people and 700 workers have been injured on or around amusement fair rides.

In July 2012 two teenagers were badly injured when the Mega Frog Bounce ride at Leicestershire's Billy Bates fair went wrong.

Danny Keogh and Conor Baker from Leicester talk to BBC Inside Out about their accident and how they sustained serious injuries.

So has safety improved at funfairs over the past decade?

Showman's Guild spokesperson James Mellor, who has a good safety record with his own fairgrounds, explains how the industry is improving safety on funfair rides.

Inside Out East Midlands is broadcast on Monday, 18 February on BBC One at 19:30 GMT and nationwide on the iPlayer for seven days thereafter.
