Litter increases on South East beaches

Volunteers conducting a survey for the Marine Conservation Society collected 151 bags of rubbish from beaches in Kent and Sussex over a single weekend, a report reveals.

The haul included 32 bags from Brighton beach and 68 from Shakespeare Beach in Dover.

Melanie Wrigley of the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership said the position of Shakespeare Beach made it particularly vulnerable to litter.
