Farmers fear for beet harvest as crops fails

Farmers have warned that the sugar beet harvest this year could be badly hit because 50% of some crops have failed.

Most of the sugar beet in this country is grown in the eastern region, home to three of the four processing plants

The industry employs more than 10,000 workers and now researchers are trying to find out what has gone wrong.
