'Missed chances' to help murdered Daniel Pelka

Chances were missed to help a child who was murdered by his mother and her partner after suffering "terrifying and dreadful" abuse, a serious case review has found.

Daniel Pelka was starved and beaten for months before he died at his Coventry home in March 2012.

The report says Daniel was "invisible" at times to the people who should have helped him.

His mother Magdelena Luczak, 27, and her partner Mariusz Krezolek, 34, were told they must serve at least 30 years in jail, after being found guilty of murder at Birmingham Crown Court in July.

Alison Holt reports.
