Anger over South East power cut compensation

Homeowners and businesses across the South East have reacted angrily to the compensation they have been offered following the power cuts over Christmas.

Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution has said it will pay upwards of £54 to customers affected, while those without power on Christmas Day will receive £75.

Pub landlord John Gill said he would be hundreds of pounds out of pocket, while Marc Gander of the Consumer Action Group said those affected should consider legal action.

Engineers in Kent are still working to reconnect everyone to mains power.
