Man escapes from van caught in flood at Much Hadham

A driver has been describing how he made a dramatic escape after his van was swept away by floodwater in Hertfordshire.

It happened when Graham Collins tried to cross a flooded ford on a road near Bishop's Stortford.

Meanwhile, residents at a block of flats in Saffron Walden, Essex had to be rescued from rising floodwater and families in Waterbeach near Cambridge resorted to weighing down manhole covers after the force of water lifted them up.
