Storms may have delayed blooms - National Trust

The National Trust has said the stormy weather could be to blame for a reduced number of blooming flowers at some of its gardens in south-west England.

In its annual survey, in February 2013, 102 species of flower were recorded at Cotehele, in Cornwall, compared to 65 this year.

But some gardens have seen an increase - at Saltram in Plymouth, 153 species of flower have been counted compared to 136 in 2013.
