England footballer Sue Smith tests Tour de France climb

With the Tour De France in Yorkshire coming to England in July, Doncaster Belles and England footballer Sue Smith swaps football boots for pedals as she attempts one of the most arduous climbs in the Grand Depart.

The Buttertubs Pass in North Yorkshire is renowned for being a challenging 2.7-mile (4.4km) hill climb with steep ramps and gradients.

The route will be one of two King of the Mountains climbs on Stage One of the 2014 Tour de France in Yorkshire.

Inside Out follows Sue Smith as she attempts this formidable climb with the training support of professional cyclist Dean Downing.

Will she make anywhere near the time of the cycling pros and can she cope with the fitness demands?

Inside Out is broadcast on BBC One Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and North East & Cumbria at 19:30 GMT on Monday, 24 February. It is also available nationwide for seven days thereafter on the iPlayer.
