Stafford Hospital inquiry into low staffing levels opens

An investigation by the Care Quality Commision , externalhas started into low staffing levels at Stafford Hospital.

The hospital called in the inspectors as it has been struggling to recruit and retain nurses after a series of high profile issues and the proposed transfer of some services to Stoke and Wolverhampton in November.

But campaigners are worried that the inquiry is a political decision to undermine attempts to keep essential service at the hospital, like maternity.

BBC Midlands Today's Michele Paduano reports.
