Excavation of 17th Century shipwreck HMS London

Divers working with English Heritage are salvaging historic artefacts from the wreck of a warship that sank in the Thames Estuary in 1665 following an explosion.

HMS London, which was built in Chatham, sank with the loss of 300 lives.

She was originally part of the convoy that brought Charles II back from Holland for his restoration to the English throne.
