Lyme disease testing improvement campaign

A couple who spent 10 years and a £100,000 getting a diagnosis for their daughter's serious illness have said more must be done to counter Lyme disease.

Kellie Maher, 24, from Brockenhurst, Hampshire needs wheelchairs and mobility scooters to get around after the NHS failed to spot the illness.

The bacterial infection is spread to humans by infected ticks found in woodland areas.

Public Health Laboratories at Porton Down, Wiltshire, has said it will look to improve methods of testing.
