Drug-driving arrests in Yorkshire increase

More than 900 arrests have been made for drug-driving across Yorkshire, new figures have revealed.

In North, West and South Yorkshire, combined figures show arrests were up 490% to 902 in 2015-16 from 153 in the previous year.

It follows new legislation introduced last March in England and Wales covering legal driving limits for 17 illegal and prescription drugs.

Previously, police had to show driving was impaired by drugs to prosecute.
