Southern rail strike: Passengers protest over dispute

Rail passengers have marched to the Department for Transport (DfT) in protest over continued disruption on the Southern rail network.

Southern has seen months of strike action and disruption in a long-running dispute over guards' roles on new trains.

Protesters demanded immediate government intervention in the dispute and an independent inquiry into what they described as the "collapse of Southern rail".

The DfT has told the BBC the dispute is between Southern and the unions and "not something the government is involved in".
