Swaleside Prison damaged during disturbance

Mike Rolfe, the chairman of the Prison Officers Association, said the prisoner disturbance at HMP Swaleside on the Isle of Sheppey caused a "fair amount of damage".

Part of a prison wing was taken over by about 60 inmates after a disturbance at about 19:00 GMT on Thursday.

All prisoners were back in their cells by about 01:00, the Prison Service said.

No prisoners or staff were injured.
