RDG executive: Rail strike is 'completely unnecessary'

Rail staff from three firms across England have started 24-hour strikes in a dispute over the role of guards.

Paul Plummer, chief executive of the Rail Delivery Group, tells the Today programme there was "no suggestion" of taking away the second person on services, and that those "staff will be trained in safety necessary for their role".
