'Virtually empty' train runs from Caterham to Victoria during strike

The first of six day-long stoppages on the Southern network began at midnight, reducing its service from more than 2,200 trains a day, to 16.

BBC reporter Marc Ashdown was on the 07.34 GMT direct service from Caterham in Surrey to London Victoria.

The virtually empty train sped through a packed platform at East Croydon and arrived at its destination on time.
